Acme Sprinkler Service Company has been providing the installation, service and repair of automatic fire sprinkler systems to the greater Chicago area since 1935. Our company philosophy has been to provide a high level of competence and technical expertise in our field while providing the personal attention to each project that would be expected of a small, family owned business.

From co-founder Ernest Waterman Sr. to present owners Michael and Barry Waterman, four generations of Waterman’s have been involved in the operation of Acme Sprinkler. We have long and valued relationships with many, many of our customers, but we also have long and valued relationships with our vendors, suppliers and subcontractors who assist us in providing the finished product.

  We are proud of the fact that during the life of our company, our product – the automatic fire sprinkler system – has become the universally accepted technology for fire protection and suppression in all structures.   

  We provide the following services:

  -Free firm price estimates. We provide pricing complete with clear itemization of everything we include. If additional work is needed for a complete system that we cannot provide, we will make these items clear and suggest sources from among our dependable subcontractors for electrical work, plumbing, excavating, etc. We want you to know all the costs, so you can make the right choice.

  Please note we are interested in most, but not all projects. Experience has shown that we are not price competitive in extremely large projects such as high-rise office buildings or other very ambitious projects. Also, we avoid mall tenant space work. However, we would be happy to direct you to worthy competitors who do specialize in these areas.

  -Design-build projects. Why pay twice for design? We have the responsibility to provide a system that will be accepted by any authority having jurisdiction. In most cases there is no need to pay twice for design services when we have to do it anyway. Our experienced design staff does all our design work. We don’t outsource design.

  -Retrofits. Do you own or operate property that was built without sprinkler protection? Let us price, design and install the best known technology for protecting your property, your business and the occupants from the ravages of fire: Sprinklers! Our reputation for retrofit projects is unsurpassed, and we provide only minimal interruption of your business.

  -Insurance problems? Your sprinkler system qualifies you for lower insurance rates. We can help you keep or restore the insurance rate reductions produced by your sprinkler system at the lowest possible cost. We understand the system; something few sprinkler companies can say.

-Inspections, maintenance and repairs including 24-hour emergency service and periodic inspection contracts.  

-Chicago Specialists. We do the majority of our work here. We know the codes, the approval process, the “landscape.” No project in which we were involved has ever been delayed because of our failure to get a system installed and approved in a timely way.

We employ only skilled Union, Local 281 Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices.
